Gold price this afternoon, January 16, 2025: In the same direction as the world, SJC gold price increased to 87 million VND/tael, the price of gold rings also increased the most to 800,000 VND.

SJC gold price is listed by Saigon Gold, Silver and Gem Company (SJC) at 85 – 87 million VND/tael (buy – sell), increasing by 400,000 VND/tael in both directions of buying and selling compared to yesterday’s closing session. The difference between the buying price and the selling price is 2.0 million VND.
This price is also traded by DOJI companies, Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd and Bao Tin Manh Hai at the same time at 85 – 87 million VND/tael (buy – sell, increased by 400,000 VND/tael in both directions of buying and selling compared to yesterday.
The group of state-owned joint stock commercial banks (Vietcombank, Vietinbank, Agribank, BIDV) listed the price of SJC gold bars at 87.0 million VND/tael, increasing by 400,000 VND/tael.
A strong upward trend also occurs with the price of gold rings. Specifically, SJC increased the price of gold rings by 99.99 types 1-5 by only 300,000 VND on the buying side and 400,000 VND on the selling side, currently listed at 84.8 – 86.5 million VND/tael.
The same increase of half a million VND this morning is the price of Phu Quy’s gold ring. After the upward adjustment, the trading price here is at 85.1 – 86.6 million/tael.
Bao Tin Minh Chau listed the price of gold rings at the threshold of 85.45-86.95 million VND/tael (buying – selling), increasing by 950,000 VND/tael in the buying direction and increasing by 600,000 VND/tael of selling compared to the beginning of yesterday morning.
PNJ is the most strongly adjusted business with the price of gold rings this morning, the recorded increase was 400,000 – 600,000 VND in 2 directions of buying and selling, currently anchored at 85.2 – 87 million VND/tael. This is also the business with the highest selling price of gold rings in the market this morning.
World gold price this afternoon
The world gold price increases when the USD tends to fall. Experiencing a number of declines, last night the gold price recorded an impressive increase, close to 2,700 USD/ounce. Gold prices increased sharply due to receiving momentum after the new US inflation report showed that the increase was not too hot.
On the other hand, the world gold price increased significantly in the ongoing trading session after the US announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in December 2024. Accordingly, the core CPI (removement of volatile food and gas costs) last December in the US increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month, slowing down from the increase of 0.3% in November of the same year.
Year-on-year, CPI of the world’s largest economy increased by 3.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Previously, the basic US CPI had maintained an annual increase of 3.3% for the previous 4 months.
CPI is an important indicator that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) often relies on to adjust monetary policy. As expected, the periodic meeting to review to decide the Fed’s next interest rate will take place at the end of this month.
