Oil prices 26/2: Brent and WTI oil prices drop the most in two months

Oil price update 26/2: WTI and Brent oil prices on the world market continued to fall by more than 2%, to the lowest level in two months. Meanwhile, domestic oil prices have had mixed adjustments according to the latest management session of the Ministry of Industry and Trade – Ministry of Finance.

According to Oilprice, at 4:00 a.m. on 26/2/2025 (Vietnam time):

WTI oil price: 68.86 USD/barrel, down 2.59% (equivalent to 1.83 USD/barrel).

Brent oil price: 72.92 USD/barrel, down 2.5% (equivalent to 1.87 USD/barrel).

Oil prices fell on negative economic data from the US and Germany, along with concerns about US President Donald Trump’s trade policies. Other factors affecting oil prices include:

US consumer confidence fell the most in 3.5 years.

Trump’s trade policies could increase inflation, affecting the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decisions.

Data shows that the German economy contracted by 0.2% in the final quarter of 2024.

A Russia-Ukraine peace deal could lead to the lifting of sanctions on Russian oil, increasing global oil supplies.

 

Domestic gasoline prices today

 

Domestic gasoline retail prices on February 26, 2025 are applied according to the adjustment period from 3:00 p.m. on February 20:

E5 RON 92 gasoline is priced at VND 20,855/liter, an increase of VND 257/liter compared to the previous period.

RON 95 gasoline is priced at VND 21,331/liter, an increase of VND 257/liter compared to the previous period.

Diesel is priced at VND 19,063/liter, a decrease of VND 10/liter compared to the previous period.

Kerosene is priced at VND 19,513/liter, an increase of VND 40/liter compared to the previous period.

Mazut is priced at VND 17,596/kg, a decrease of VND 183/kg compared to the previous period.

 

Thus, in this adjustment period, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline and RON 95 gasoline increased slightly by VND 257/liter, while the price of diesel oil decreased by VND 10/liter and fuel oil decreased by VND 183/kg.

 

Market assessment

 

World oil prices are under pressure from global economic and trade policies.

It is expected that domestic gasoline prices will continue to fluctuate according to world market developments.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance will not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund in this adjustment period.

Since the beginning of 2025, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 8 adjustment sessions, including 2 decrease sessions, 4 increase sessions and 2 opposite sessions.
