Last week, world oil prices recorded another week of “plummeting”, setting a hat-trick of weekly declines and recording the strongest weekly decline in the past 3 weeks. Oil prices on 10/3 reversed to increase, breaking the downward streak
World oil price developments on 10/3
Recorded on Oilprice at 4:00 a.m. on 10/3/2025 (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 67.05 USD/barrel, up 1.02% (equivalent to an increase of 0.68 USD/barrel).
Similarly, Brent oil price was at 70.45 USD/barrel, up 1.3% (equivalent to an increase of 0.9 USD/barrel).

The recovery in crude oil prices in recent days has helped crude oil prices in March 2025 compared to February 2025 stop falling sharply. WTI oil prices in March decreased by 7.3% compared to the previous month, while Brent oil decreased by more than 7.2%. Crude oil prices in March 2025 compared to the same period last year decreased by double digits, over 13%.
Oil prices also increased due to a number of reasons such as increased supply from OPEC+, issues related to Israel and Hamas in the search for a permanent ceasefire. US President Donald Trump’s trade sanctions on most goods from Canada and Mexico until April 2.
Analysts: When considering the global oil balance, OPEC+ assessed that the oil market could absorb more oil without causing too much negative impact on prices, which was constructive enough… So far, it seems that price developments have proven them wrong.
Global markets have been hit hard by the volatile trade policy of the United States, the world’s largest oil consumer.

For the whole week, Brent oil price decreased by 2.82 USD, equivalent to 3.85%, to 70.36 USD/barrel; WTI oil price decreased by 2.72 USD, equivalent to 3.89%, to 67.04 USD/barrel.
