The USD continued to fall sharply, marking the worst week in more than 2 years when US employment data was disappointing. The market is betting on the possibility of the Fed cutting interest rates early, putting the USD at a disadvantage.

The Dollar Index (DXY), measuring the USD against 6 major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 103.84 – up 0.03 points compared to March 9, 2025
The greenback ended the week down 0.16% at 103.91 after data showed the labor market in the world’s largest economy slowed last month, creating fewer jobs than expected. The report suggested the US Federal Reserve remains on track to cut interest rates multiple times this year. US interest rate futures were pricing in 78 basis points of easing this year following the non-farm payrolls report, or about three 25 basis point rate cuts. The first rate cut is likely to be followed by another in June.
The DXY index fell 3.5% this week, on track for its worst weekly performance since November 2022. The index had earlier slid to its lowest level since early November.
Last month’s average hourly earnings, a measure of wage inflation, rose 0.3% in February, down from a 0.5% gain in January.
Overall, it was a volatile week for currencies, driven largely by uncertainty over US economic growth and trade and a key development in Europe as its largest economy abandoned financial restrictions to boost spending and revive growth.
